The aim of this course is to help students improve their academic reading skills through the study of newspaper, magazine, and journal articles related to important issues in science and engineering. Using passages of varying length and difficulty, students will develop reading strategies to help them comprehend authentic English texts. By the end of the course, they will have gained confidence in their ability to tackle complex texts and sentence structures as well as broadening their understanding of topical issues within their field.
You are encouraged to bring an English dictionary to class. Please also bring paper for taking notes etc. The course will be conducted in English, so basic ability to speak and understand English is required.
