授業の教育目的及び方針
This course is designed to read various materials concerning contemporary social, political and environmental issues. You will be able to improve your reading skills by utilizing “paragraph reading" and learning the basics of current media English. You will be encouraged to read each material critically and to express your opinions in class by discussing with your classmates.
授業内容
Students are expected to read a weekly assignment and to understand the main idea/points of it. You will be asked to write down your responses to the discussion questions in advance of class so that you can prepare for the class/group discussions. You will have the opportunity to present your opinions orally in class and to learn diverse opinions and views on the topic. Furthermore, you will engage in small projects to research an interesting aspect or related issues to the topic.
評価方法
Grades will be based on various worksheets(35%), several written homework assignments(30%), presentations(25%), and active participation in class(10%).
教科書
Copies of reading materials will be provided one week in advance.
