Course content
It is a practical planning design exercise to propose Complex Building within the local community on the basis of the apartment including dwelling and cultural facilities. Students are required to solve a plan of the life space adapting to the environment surrounding and bringing inhabitants together.
In the 7 times of practice, the aim of this course is to help students acquire the method of phased design process, with understanding the problem, through investigating, analyzing the characteristic of the site information, and clarifying a motivation and purpose for a plan.
This class is an exercise of the design studio form by plural teachers.
Subject related to internship.
Purpose of class
This course deals with the method to research and investigate the urban context of the project site, also the method to design an architecture connecting to the area.
It also enhances the development of students’ skill in making oral presentation and effective representation.
Goals and objectives
  1. Acquire the designing ability necessary for planning Complex Building within the local community, through the practical exercise.
  2. Clarify the problem of the site and the environment surrounding hold by the site investigation and the documentation research.
  3. Find and investigate design concepts applicable to facilities with various function and various building size.
  4. Improve the ability of persuasive presentation of the design with drawings, scaled models and/or computer models.
  5. make an effective presentation.

Evaluation method and criteria
Your final grade will be calculated according to the following process:
-Design process: the outcomes of understanding, surveying, and analyzing into the practical exercise (30%)
-Document submitted: the design contents and the representational skills (60%)
-Presentation (10%)
To pass, students must earn at least 60 points out of 100.

Will timely indicate some architectural works, documents, and so on that should be referred to.
Prerequisites
Survey the documents and real buildings about the case of Complex Building within the local community in advance.
