Course description
This course is a foundational course for students in the Graduate School of Engineering Management (MOT). Students learn theories, research, policies, and practices relevant to objectives listed below.Topics covered include: motivation, leadership, decision-making, group dynamics, and communication (details of topics are identified in the Course Schedule below). Throughout the course, considerable emphasis will be placed on: a) the practical application of relevant theory and research, and b) developing and applying critical thinking skills.
Purpose of class
This course is intended to provide and overview of the field of organizational behavior.
Goals and objectives
  1. To understand behavior in organizations, such as factors influencing behavior, and consequences of various behavior
  2. To develop specific knowledge, skills and abilities that will assist students in effectively managing behavior in organizations.
  3. To experience discussion and active learning processes (e.g. team exercises, case analysis, presentations, guest speakers) throughout the course.

Preparation for the 1st day of the class:Think about your workplace and the incidents that you had difficulty to overcome, such as project delay, relationships with supervisors/subordinates, and workplace motivation. Remember how you and related others dealt with these issues. This exercise will provide better understanding of the introduction in the 1st day.
