Advanced Course on Thermal-Fluids Engineering

tsunoda kazumi
Course content
Numerous complex thermal-fluid phenomena which are involved in turbulence transport can be observed in energy systems and plants which form the basis of industry. As they are directly linked to the issues of equipment safety and efficiency, it is very important from an engineering standpoint to accurately understand the turbulence phenomena which occur, and to improve and control the thermal-fluid phenomena based on this knowledge.
This course will present a detailed description of the basic thinking behind methods of improving the flow field through turbulence control, and the characteristics of the turbulence flow structure derived from image analysis of the flow field. On this basis, students will discuss methods of controlling heat and flow within the turbulence field.
Purpose of class
This course enhances the problem solving methods through the investigation on the thermal-fluids phenomena.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students will be able to consider turbulence transport equations based on the Navier-Stokes equation.
  2. Students will be able to discuss compressible turbulent flow fields.
  3. Students will be able to use various fluid measurement methods.
