Theory of Interface and Function

yang wonseok
Course content
Due to developments in information technology, devices and products have improved the standard of living in society. Such products range from handheld devices such as smart phones and tablets to electronic ticket vending machines at train stations. Conversely, the complexity of a system’s operations has widened the gap between the users and designers of the device.
Due to complexity of the operation, users are unable to master the systems’ functions. Interface is a field in which information science and cognitive psychology meet. More specifically, various fields interact, evaluate, and conduct research. Such interaction is especially effective in user interface design.
Purpose of class
This lecture learns the basics of interface design method and interaction and its mechanism. It also places emphasis on acquiring the ability to do design thinking.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students acquire a wide range of knowledge from the aspects of cognitive science, ergonomics and psychology, and acquire the ability to solve problems with a melody / compound viewpoint with different fields.
