Advanced Control Design of Materials

utsunomiya takao
Course content
In the advanced technology fields such as aerospace field, to improve the performance of machines and structures, the development of light weight materials with various functions and those applications to practical structures have been promoted actively. This course presents the high functionalization of light weight materials, those evaluation methods of mechanical properties and the damage sensing technology in the joint structure using light weight materials. On the basis of the above subjects, students will discuss the fabrication and evaluation of new type light weight materials and the development of damage detecting sensor.
Purpose of class
The aims of this course are to examine and recognize the development processes of high functionalized lightweight materials and the damage sensing technologies of structures, then to discuss on light weight material with new function and new type damage detecting system.
Goals and objectives
  1. To understand technologies for reducing the weight of materials and apply to high-functionality of materials.
  2. To analyze and evaluate mechanical properties of lightweight materials.
  3. To discuss damage mechanisms and apply to property evaluations of structures.
