Course description
History of computer and data expression methods will be mentioned. Also computer architecture, and functions of calculation and control will be explained from the viewpoints of both hardware and software. Especially, input and output devices which are significantly important for the users will be focused on and how to quantitatively evaluate the performance and reliability will be mentioned. This class is strongly connected with "Information Processing 2", and thus both classes should be taken for better comprehension.
Purpose of class
The purpose of this class can be divided into two. One is to comprehend the concept of computers and how they process information. The other is to acquire basic structure of computer systems, data expression methods, and performance evaluation methods.
