Course description
This course gives an introduction to probability and statistics on civil engineering applications. The course focuses on probability theory and its applications which are some probability distiributions, hypothesis testing and regression analysis. Students study some statistical analyses using Excel in a self-learning.
Purpose of class
Understand probability theory and statistics on civil engineering applications.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students should be able to calculate average, variance and standard deviation.
  2. Students should be able to calculate probability functions ( normal distiribution, log-normal distribution, extremal value distribution, poisson distribution).
  3. Students should be able to calculate hypothesis testing .
