Course description
The aim of this course is to develop the students’ communicative abilities in English. Through the study of a number of important global issues, students will improve their listening ability by practicing the major types of listening skill (predicting content, grasping the main idea, listening for specific information etc.). At the same time, they will gain confidence in their spoken English through conveying information, explaining their ideas, and discussing the content of the listening passages. They will also learn grammatical structures and vocabulary appropriate for each topic.
Purpose of class
Students will develop their communicative abilities in English.

  1. To grasp the content of lectures and discussions on global issues.
  2. To be able to respond to what one has heard, convey information and express one’s ideas.
