Graduation Thesis1Based on knowledge obtained in this department, students choose a research topic, receive guidance by an adviser to write
a graduation thesis. Through this process, students can obtain skills of research, paper writing, and oral presentation.
The minimum requirements for credit unit are as follows:
・10 hours or more of research activity per week
・More than 15 weeks of research activities
・Over 150 hours of research activities in the previous term

By solving research problems, students can obtain comprehensive ability that is needed when they go into the world of work.

- To understand contents of technical documents, and to write technical documents
- To participate in research discussions, and to obtain skills for presenting research results

Research Content：1) To study appropriate interface designs and timings for learning by using ICT from the view point of brain activities, in particular the activities of the brain areas associated with working memory and language processing (Focusing on language learning and learning of elderly people).
2) To study mechanisms for enhancing better communication by examining the activation of the frontal lobe of the brain, and to identify how alerting and decision making can affect the brain activation.
For 1) & 2), experiments by using Near-infrared spectroscopy will be performed, and obtained data from the experiments will be analyzed. Students are expected to present the outcomes of their thesis research at an international conference/ a academic conference by Japanese academic societies, such as The Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence and The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
