Course description
In this class, the students experience various processing methods and precision measurement methods which are the foundations of mechanical engineering. The capability to summarize their experience into the report is learned. The students study relation with mechanical design, engineering drawing and other special fields of mechanical engineering. Furthermore, the students recognize the fun of mechanical engineering, and its importance.
Purpose of class
The following matters are learned by practicing machining which is the foundation of mechanical engineering.
1) Operations and safety
2) The principle of measurement
3) The principle of machining
4) The use of machine tool
Goals and objectives
  1. Students are required to understand the principle of hand finishing and processing method.
  2. Students are required to understand the principle of machining by milling machine and processing method.
  3. Students are required to understand the principle of machining by lathe and the machining method.
  4. Students are required to understand the principles and usage of various measuring instruments.
  5. Students are required to understand the basics of machine design through disassembly and assembling work.
