Course description
In order to carry out architectural design, first, we should start reading and analyzing various requirements and environmental information, then accurately grasp related information, and process it into the useful information (Information processing). Furthermore, it needs the skills to analyze and organize the information, proposal, and presentation in planning phase (conceptual and schematic design), also needs the skills to digitize (dimensions system) a building and to comprehend the system of elements in production phase (design development).
This class is the practical course to learn the basic skills in making architectural drawings (information processing as architectural design drawings) as architectural information systems.
Purpose of class
The aim of this course is to help students acquire the basic skills of architectural design drawings by using digital tools: 3D-object CAD that makes the basement of “Design and Manufacturing.”
In the first half, this course deals with understanding the basic rules and practicing drafting-exercises; then, in the latter half, deal with exercise in architectural design assignment.
Goals and objectives
  1. Make the architectural drawings to communicate the architectural design and information, with understanding each meaning of the line as information.
  2. Make several detailed plan and section drawings with reference to the drawing information of the existing timber house with traditional construction method, by using 3D objective CAD.
  3. Build an architectural program with understand the necessary information (component elements, structure, building use, surrounding environment etc.).
  4. Represent own schematic design image by using 3D objective CAD.
