Course content
Building materials and construction methods are indicated by standard specifications and related technical standards which are one of the design documents. In addition, these technologies are constantly changing and developing, and knowledge of the latest materials and construction techniques must also be obtained. In this lecture, after acquiring basic concepts on building materials and methods of construction management of them, understanding and discussing the latest specifications and technical guidelines, understanding and discussing the background and grounds, designers and construction Knowledge that you can propose special specifications as a person, and acquire knowledge to supervise them. In addition to new construction supervision and construction management, understand the investigation and diagnostic methods for existing structures, acquire knowledge and techniques for utilization of existing stocks, maintenance of infrastructure stocks and long-term use.
This lecture is an intersession related subject which is important for construction supervision of designers, as it learns through basic examples and practical examples on constructional supervision and construction management of buildings through actual examples.
Purpose of class
Understand basic and essential matters concerning building materials and construction techniques, and acquire knowledge and presentation skills to understand standard specifications and proposals for special mention specifications.
Goals and objectives
  1. As an engineer involved in building design and building production, understand the basic knowledge and methodology related to building materials and building construction, recognize the relation with design design, structural design, and facility design, and the designer / Learn basic matters so that it can be applied in supervision and management.
  2. Recognizing the basic types, applications, and features of recent building materials, structural materials, finishing materials and functional materials, understand new materials and new materials. In addition, we will learn about the transition of construction technology to advance the construction work, the latest technology and concept, investigation / diagnosis method, repair / reinforcement technology etc
  3. As a student in the master's program, aim to have a problem consciousness, to summarize the report, to acquire presentation skills, and so on.
