1 Theory of Community Improvement
This course is about learning how does a planning specialist design the planning process through some lectures and interviews
with community or non-profit organization or local authority. While other courses concentrate on lecture and observation,
this course concentrates on the interaction with social sectors and discussion with students too. You will design the planning
process in actual site where the instructor introduces.
It is significant to improve the urban context: traditional community, social activities, local economy, townscape and ecology,
for example. The theory of community planning should be based on such context. Also partnership between various sectors is
necessary. The process planning should be based on the partnerships in social arena. You will become an expert in community
improvement from these viewpoints.
This course has relationship with internship.

- Digestion of the method of research, analysis and dialogue for community improvement
- Understanding of the method for communtiy improvement as a specialist
