Course content
  This course deals with the study for a solution in relations of architecture and the area, with finding out about the underlying problem there by surveying and analyzing multilaterally in the natural and social environment and various information within the town. It also indicates the design methodology such as a planning, territorial design, architectural design, renovation, conversion, and landscape design, which have a viewpoint with the Area Management to revitalize the area, within the town center of the metropolitan area suburbs.
  This class is an exercise of the design studio form by plural teachers.
  The Subject related to “Center of Community Project” and the internship.
Purpose of class
  The aim of this course is to help students acquire the practical methodology of plan, scheme, and design for the Area Management based on the analysis of numerical and cultural information. It also enhances the development of students’ skills such as process, method, and technique needed to realize the architectural and territorial design, in order to enhance people’s life and activities of the target community.
Goals and objectives
  1. Make a process of “Problem-finding and Problem-solving” that lead to the definite design proposal, with synthesizing and analyzing the information obtained by survey in the field and research documents, institutions concerned.
  2. Take a practical and effective presentation, and also respond properly so as to collaborate with the public administration and local residents in an efficient manner.
  3. Recognize the impossibility of “Consensus formation” within the team and “Accountability” to the person concerned, through practicing of the group work.
  4. Make a proposal such as a planning, territorial design, architectural design, renovation, conversion, and landscape design, which have a viewpoint with the Area Management to revitalize the area.

Evaluation method and criteria
Your overall grade will be based on the following ratio:
- The outcomes of understanding, surveying, and analyzing into the practical exercise: 30%,
- The design contents and representational skills: 70%.
To pass, students must earn at least 60 points out of 100 by submitting all the above-mentioned performances on time.

Prerequisites
Investigate the cases and documents of community-type facilities and town planning in advance.
