Course content
This course provides the opportunity of on-site experiences to students through visits to Japanese prominent companies and talks given by engineering managers. The lectures are composed of two categories. The first part is visits to factories of Japanese companies. Students observe the production way and learn how technologies are managed in the factories. In addition, an embarkation class in cooperation with Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology will be implemented. The second part is talks of engineering managers on technologies, products development, and business strategy of their companies.
Purpose of class
This course enhances your R&D ability through the above factory visits of a famous and typical Japanese companies and the discussion with researchers or business managers.
Goals and objectives
  1. To understand the production way and technology management in the factories
  2. To understand technologies and business strategy of the each company
  3. To participate in the presentation and discussion, and exchange views with teachers and other students in English.
