1 Internship 1
Under the guidance of a first-class registered architect (structural design, facility design and building services architects)
in an architect practice or a construction company, a student is to learn planning, legal inspection, regulation compliance,
creation of design documents, quantity survey, site supervision and inspection etc. The internship consists of preliminary
orientation and post-internship presentation in campus and actual internship at the workplace. There are 4 internship schemes.
A unit of 2 weeks worth of internship work is counted as 2 credits, subjected to the recognition of the completion. The working
days are not specified, however, it is preferable to concentrate working days rather than having gaps between them. During
the internship, a student is to have 8 hours of practical work experience and 1 hour of private study (creating a report and
memos etc.) per day or 8 hours of work experience per weekday and 5 hours of private study at the weekend. Completion of a
unit of internship is recognized by the final report (including the report in designated form) and an internship reporting
presentation. ※ Participating students must attend the pre-internship guidance that includes safety training etc.

Evaluation method and criteria
Since internships are considered practical exercises, 45 hours is counted as 1 unit. As mentioned above, a student is expected
to have 8 hours of practical work experience and 1 hour of private study (creating a report and memos etc.) per day or 8 hours
of work experience per weekday and approximately 5 hours of private study at the weekend. (8+1) hours x 5 days=45 hours or
8 hours x 5 days + 5 hours = 45 hours Therefore 1 week (5 days) worth of work experience corresponds to 1 credit, making 2
weeks worth of work experience a unit that earns 2 credits. The whole point of internship is work experience. Therefore, as
long as this ‘work experience’ requirement is satisfied, it does not make distinction whether it is done inside or outside
of the university. For example, if a student works for a project in which a lecturer of the university is involved along with
outside practitioners, the student can combine his/her 5 days’ ‘practical work experience’ time with 3 days of design related
work in the campus and 2 days of supervision related work outside. Apart from the working hours, the student also needs to
satisfy other requirements such as the report and presentation.
