Course description
In designing, we often design forms as the final substance of meaning and function. We should understand various theories to design forms : theories of cognition changes by forms and materials, theories of designing forms and materials based on external factors such as manufacturing method and environment. In this class, students acquire basic theories to design forms by referring various academic areas; biology, psychology, engineering, environmental engineering and so on. Also we reconsider design theories from various case studies.
Purpose of class
We aim at understand the form that is a important factor of design as logically, as emotionally, and acquire basic theories to design forms.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can guess reasons why they designed this form from the various view point when they watched objects.
  2. Students are able to design forms in consideration of psychological aspect that should be considered.
  3. Students understand basic techniques to compose and design forms.
  4. Students understand basic techniques to develop ideas.

Evaluation method and criteria
We make judgments of S, A and B for each report (S: having adequate and logical description and also having own consideration / A: Less than S but described appropriate content / B: the content is not appropriate), and give 10 points for S, 5 points for A and 0 points for B.
For reports, we calculate the final score based on the following calculation formula, and this score is added to the final exam (maximum score is 50 points) and it is the final score for evaluation.
