Course description
The students will do three urban design projects, two by oneself and one with group members.
Two study sites are selected, one is a college campus and the other is a railway station and its surrounding area.
Students will learn basic methods of urban research and design, and skills to present one's idea by architectural plans, computer graphics and models. In order to acquire the credit, students must complete and submit the designated outcomes of all the assignments.
Purpose of class
This exercise is intended to practical experience the process of "urban design" that integrates architecture and the landscape and environmental design.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students will be able to find the characters and problems of the site by conducting researches, set up a concept to improve the urban environment.
  2. Students will acquire the skill of presenting one's idea by plans, model(s) and computer graphics.
  3. Students will understand the importance of space management and present a system of management.
