Course description
This lecture is positioned as a sequel of the Advanced Numerical Analysis I. In this lecture we learn about numerical integration methods and numerical methods for ordinary differential equations, and the conjugate gradient method for linear systems.
Purpose of class
The purpose of this lecture is to understand the derivation and algorithms of some numerical algorithms and be able to apply them to real problems through implementation.
Goals and objectives
  1. be able to understand the principle of numerical integration method and numerical methods for ordinary differential equations
  2. be able to understand the importance of efficient algorithm, and learn how to decrease the numerical error through the computer exercises
  3. be able to understand the theoretical properties such as numerical error and the convergence rate, and understand them in connection with numerical characteristics
