Course description
Measurements of biological structures and functions are necessary in order to understand biological phenomena and life activities. Various sensors and equipment are used in the biomedical measurements, and understanding of their principles and measuring objects is important if we want to utilize them. This course deals with basic concepts and principles of biomedical measurements through lectures and some simple experiments. In the latter part of this course, students analyse a biomedical measurement technology or medical equipment in small groups. Following group consultations, they are required
to present their findings.
Purpose of class
Deepen their knowledge on biological characteristics and measurement principle in order to utilize the biological measurement technologies.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to explain the basic concepts of biological phenomena and measurements.
  2. Be able to explain the working principles of sensors and measurement equipment.
  3. Be able to analyze the principles and applications of a biomedical measurements on their initiative.
