Course description
In this lecture, it is explained the relationship between the environment surrounding our life (atmosphere, water, soil, energy) and human activities and deepen understanding on measures needed to build a sustainable society. Furthermore, those environmental problems are addressed in terms of "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" which was adopted in 2015 at United Nations as international targets for 2030.
Purpose of class
Our daily life is supported by various components of environment such as atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, and so on. However, it is known sometimes human activities impair the balance of the components. In this course, we learn basics of environmental issues from regional to global, and then we will think about human activities in consideration of the environment.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students understand importance of environment from “Local” to “Global”.
  2. Students understand basic relationship between human activities and environment.
  3. Students consider how individual humans and society should be concerned with environment.

Applicatable 日本政府において環境行政に従事した経験を活かし、人間と環境の関りと地域の環境から地球環境問題までの基礎を教授する。

Based on the experience of working for environment policy in Japanese government, relationship between the environment and human activities and basic knowledge of measures on local and global environmental problems are offered.
