Course description
This course provides the first step for a student to understand basics of company and business operation, roles in economy and society. The course is based on active learning through group work and presentation activities which are reqired in this school, and in a company. Students will create idea for new business through the learning of this course, and find a way to Shibaura Business Model Competition event in this year.
Purpose of class
1. Understand basic knowledge of company operation and its roles in economy and society by few examples.
2. Understand important points of growing businesses with view points of marketing and differentiation. Obtain capability to create new business model.
3. Understand basic skills of team work to create a new business model as a common goal. Obtain view of businessman ship and own carrier development though interactions with instructors who actively working in the business world. "

2. Company, its operation and roles in economy and society:
Providing the basic knowledge and example of company activities, organization, roles in economy and society. Discuss few real examples by questions and answers to the subject students provide.
Pre-work: Gather information of interested company, and prepare for questions and answers when requested. 190分
3. Basics of Business:
Discuss basic elements of business by utilizing some examples. Providing basic understanding of mechanism of business.
Pre-work: Study basics of business model by reading books or search internet. 190分
4. Introduction of Business Model Canvas (Workshop):
Providing tool of Business Model Canvas and learn how to use it. Filling the canvas based on provided business case as an example. Disucuss the contents in each group work.
Pre-work: Learn basics of Business Model Canvas by reading books or search internet.
Homework: Create a business model canvas for provided subject and submit by due date. "

Basics of intellectual property rights such as patents, trademarks, copyrights that may be important for developing and promoting business

Learn practical knowledge about production management that efficiently provides products and services that meet the required quality by deadline.
Please prepare a one-minute speech about how companies control their production with reference to newspapers and magazines, etc. 190分
11. Create new business model (Workshop):
Form several groups to discuss new business model as the team work. Set objectives of the business.
Homework: Discuss and prepare business model canvas as the group work. It will require group work after this class. Prepare presentation for the class on 7/14. 190分
12. Guest speaker - inviting an entrepreneur Checking the background as well as the business of the entrepreneur 190分
13. Wrap-up of the class - summarizing findings from the lectures, reviewing what we've learned so far. Checking handouts and the textbook for the wrap-up 190分
