Course content
Accurate estimation and suitable improvement of seismic capacity of buildings are required for the mitigation of earthquake damages. “Seismic Evaluation” and “Calculation of Ultimate Lateral Strength” are useful methods for the estimation of seismic capacity. In this lecture, theories and techniques of both methods are described for Reinforced Concrete buildings. Practical exercises are provided to understand those application procedures.
Purpose of class
This class trains the ability to estimate the seismic capacity of buildings to mitigate earthquake damages.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understanding theories and application procedures of “Seismic Evaluation”
  2. Understanding theories and application procedures of “Calculation of Ultimate Lateral Strength”
  3. Understanding the importance of seismic capacity of buildings to mitigate earthquake damages
