Terramechanics

IIZUKA Kojiro
Course content
The lunar surface is covered with many loose soil called "Regolith". The exploration rovers have to driver this ground with shearing effect. In this class, we discuss the physical model between loose soil and wheels of exploration rovers. And, participants will design to travel on loose soil and present the traveling test, analysis.
Purpose of class
Participants can get knowledge of terramechnics which is physical model between loose soil like lunar surface and wheels of exploration rovers.
Goals and objectives
  1. Participants can get knowledge of lunar environment and the current exploration rovers.
  2. Participants can explain the locomotion phenomenon of a rigid body on loose soil.
  3. Participants can consider the effective design with various tasks on loose soil like lunar surface.
Language
Japanese
