Course content
Today, computers are being used in a very diverse range of fields, and importance of problem solving with using computers intelligently is crucially increasing. Researches studied in this course will include the following topics which are mainly based on artificial intelligence and computer science.

・Knowledge representation and reasoning
・Machine learning and knowledge discovery
・Logic programming
・Natural language processing

Especially researches about artificial intelligence relating to the following specific themes are being considered for this course:
1. Argumentation and negotiation in multiagent systems
2. Reasoning systems dealing with preference
3. Web intelligence and semantic Web
4. Text mining and text search

Students will read technical papers and textbooks written in Japanese as well as English, propose ideas and methods, develop and implement software systems, and conduct computer experiments in this course. Finally students will write papers on the above themes and make presentation about them at academic societies or international conferences.
Goals and objectives
  1. Aquiring knowledge of state of the art technology on AI, machine learning and agent.
  2. Aquiring research capability such as discovering research themes and research planning.
  3. Presenting the reseach results at international conferences by summarizing the research.

Conducting research on AI, machine learning and agent, and implementing the AI system.
Evaluation method and criteria
Students will be evaluated based on their papers presented at international conferences, domestic conferences and academic societies.
Textbooks and reference materials
Adequate textbooks and papers will be recommmended in the lecture.
Handouts are also given in the lecture.
Prerequisites
Students take a course of Intelligent System.
