Course description
Based on engineering knowledge and technology, this course introduces overall idea and frame work of Engineering Design, which enables students to come up with creative thoughts supported by scientific thinking. The course also introduces rolls of Engineering Design to develop systems and products through examining some example cases. The course also explains two systems and six model courses of Engineering Design Department at S.I.T., and shows features of each field and necessary skills to learn. Thus, the course enhances students' understanding of the department.
Purpose of class
The aim of this course is to help students acquire understanding of main ideas of Engineering Design, which run through two systems and six model courses of Engineering Design Department at S.I.T. Another purpose of the course is to help students to acquire abilities to use problem solving design methods while applying basic Engineering Design methods.
Goals and objectives
  1. To understand main ideas of Engineering Design and explain them correctly.
  2. To understand structures and relationships of specialty fields of Engineering Design Department at S.I.T. and explain them correctly.
  3. To get clues to work on research projects of specialty fields of Engineering Design Department at S.I.T.
