3 Practice on Design Project 8
In this practice, we will study a heat treatment of metal to improve mechanical strength, which is essential for manufacturing
design. Including mechanical testing and microscopic observation of test piece, the conditions of heat treatment will be discussed
to control the mechanical properties.
We learn to design mechanical properties of structural materials based on heat treatment and phase diagram.
- You can evaluate a mechanical strength of structural materials.
- You can observe microstructure of structural materials by using microscope.
- You can design heat treatment process to improve mechanical strength of structural materials based on phase diagram.
