In this course, students will learn the transient phenomena and the distributed constant circuit.
(1) Transient phenomena:
In the electrical circuits, the waveforms of power supply are drastically changed from steady state. The voltage and current of circuit element is also changed by switching. These phenomena are called "transient response". The transient response is closely related to the initial state just before changes. In this subject, the transient response for the circuits consist of R, L, and C will be analyzed by using differential equations.
(2) Distributed constant circuit:
Electric circuits are basically analyzed as lumped constant circuits, although the circuit elements do not have dimensions, but exist as a point in the space. However, the circuit elements such as R, L, and C have to be handled as the distributed constant circuits, in which the circuit elements are spatially distributed, when the frequency of signal is very high and wavelength is shorter than the dimensions of electric circuit. In this subject, voltage and current for the transmission lines such as power lines and communication wires will be analyzed.

The purpose of this class is to acquire analysis methods of transient response for electric circuits consist of R, L, and
C, and to acquire analysis methods of voltage and current for the transmission lines such as power lines and communication
wires.
- To understand the concept of transient phenomena for RC or RL series circuit, when direct or active current is supplied.
- ･To understand the concept of transient phenomena for LC or RLC series circuit, when direct current is supplied, and for RC or RL series circuit, when pulse wave is supplied.
- ･To understand the basic concept of distributed constant circuits and wave.
･To understand the concept of lossless distributed constant circuits, and of voltage and current waves at the boundary point. - ･To understand the concept of steady analysis for the distributed constant circuits.
･To understand the concept of characteristic impedance and boundary condition for the distributed constant circuits. - ･To understand the analyses of open or short circuit for the distributed constant circuits with voltage and current reflections.
･To understand the concept of resonance and standing wave for the transmission lines.
