Course description
This course introduces history of modern city planning, the system of city planning in Japan and methods of citizen participation. This course includes the fields of town planning, city planning, urban planning, urban design, regional planning, community design and Machizukuri. Recently, Machizukuri (town planning and community design) is important in Japan. Also the partnership between local government and citizens is important. This course emphasizes of theory and methods of Machizukuri and partnership.
Purpose of class
The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of city planning, town planning, and community design.
