1 Theory of Interface Design
Due to developments in information technology, devices and products have improved the standard of living in society. Such
products range from handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets to electronic ticket vending machines at train stations.
Conversely, the complexity of a system’s operations has widened the gap between the users and designers of the device.
Due to the complexity of the operation, users are unable to master the systems’ functions. The interface is a field in which
information science and cognitive psychology meet. More specifically, various fields interact, evaluate, and conduct research.
Such interaction is especially effective in user interface design.
The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of the fundamental principles of interface design.
- Understand the interface design of a mechanism and methods to design products
- To learn perception and cognition based on human sensitivity.
- Respect the interaction between humans and product understanding.
- To learn to design and apply interface design to various products.
