Course content
While energy systems and plants which form the basis of industries are comprised of various equipment and components, there are many among them which directly utilize thermal fluids or which are influenced by the thermal flow phenomenon. Particularly in recent years, equipment is rapidly and becoming complex and high performance, and a broad-ranging knowledge of thermal fluids based on sophisticated technology and reliability is being called for.
This course will approach various phenomena involved in heat and fluids from the perspective of physical principles, and will seek to clarify and predict target phenomena by combining experiments and numerical simulations. The following are current main research themes:
(1) Research relating to turbulence control
(2) Research relating to interference between shock waves and supersonic flow
(3) Research relating to gas flow properties within disc channels which imitate disc type fuel cells.
(4) Research relating to control of supersonic flow using weakly-ionized plasma
(5) Research relating to optimization of collection mechanism using the centrifugal effect through rotational flow
Goals and objectives
  1. Students will be able to discuss thermal-fluids phenomena based on the from physical point of view.
  2. Students will be able to collect information and reference from various databases and use them effectively to solve problems.
  3. Students will be able to make a presentation about research results theoretically.
