Course content
Cells perceive a variety of information from the environment and regulate the physiological functions using the acquired information. This regulatory system is associated with survival in unicellular organisms and with the expression of tissue functions in multicellular organisms. This course aims to reveal the mechanisms for obtaining environmental information, processing information in cells, and controlling the output (especially motility) using the processed information.
Goals and objectives
  1. To understand stimulus perception, information processing, and motility control in cells.
  2. To acquire the experimental techniques for cell biology, biophysics, and molecular biology
  3. To acquire basic skills to plan, execute, and discuss research
Language
Japanese(English accepted)
Class schedule
Students will conduct research to reveal unknown mechanisms and phenomina regarding stimulus perception, information processing, and motility control in cells.
Evaluation method and criteria
How intensively you are engaged in the research and how much you thought about the research will be evaluated.
A students needs to accomplish the assigned experiments and design a part of the experiments would get a grade of 60.
