In our product system design area (especially the field related to molds), to learn for the current situation, task, countermeasure,
future technology etc. in manufacturing through experiment and consideration. ・ Understanding of various characteristics of metal materials and plastic processing experiments(tensile test, hardening test,
blanking test such as press forming)
Purpose of class
To be able to to solve the problems of each phenomenon for the problems on the various properties of metal materials and plastic
Goals and objectives
to be able to explain the structure of various molds.
to be able to explain typical material tests (tensile test / hardness test).
to be able to explain the press forming and blanking test.
HW assignments (Including preparation and review of the class.)
Amount of Time Required
Review of strength of materials (stress and strain)
To understand relationship between stress and strain
Review of strength of materials (Combined stress)
To understand plane stress
Review of strength of materials (Yield criterion)
To understand yield criterion of vin Mises and Tresca
To understand stress-strain modeling and its physical implications
Vickers hardness test
To understand mechanism of Vickers hardening test and other hardening tests
To understand classification of characteristics of various stamping methods
Report/Poster (According to the degree of understanding of the students)
To prepare the final presentation
Relationship between 'Goals and Objectives' and 'Course Outcomes'
Report and poster
Evaluation method and criteria
Exercise（65％）、Report and poster（35％）. The level at which 60% or more passes is to draw the graph of stress and strain curves in the tensile test and estimate the mechanical characteristics, to understand the meaning of hardness test and to explain the characteristics of various press processing.
Textbooks and reference materials
Instruct during class as appropriate. A textbook on materials mechanics is mandatory.
It is desirable to take material mechanics.
