Course description
********** This course may be conducted online for Fall Semester 2021 depending on the covid19 pandemic situation, etc. **********

Computers are essential part of engineers' activities and it is important to understand the exact way of working of these machines and their underlying operations. Thus, this lecture aims at providing all required knowledge to apprehend computer architecture: how a computer is build, and how computers are processing information in order to perform computation. This lecture will therefore provide an overview of the computer architecture and its hardware design; it will focus on basic concepts such as Logic and Boolean algebra, Numbers, CPU or Memory.
Purpose of class
The objectives of this class is to make students become familiar with Computers and their way of working: from the Bit to the hardware architecture.
