Course description
The aim of this course is to develop the students’ ability to communicate in English. Students will discuss everyday topics, building up their active vocabulary, grammatical knowledge, and spoken fluency. They will also carry out a variety of listening activities. They will also be required to perform self-learning with a textbook for self-study.
Purpose of class
To develop the students’ ability to communicate in English.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to communicate in English about everyday topics with a degree of fluency and confidence.
  2. To be able to use a range of vocabulary and grammar in conversation.
  3. To be able to understand short conversations and speeches in everyday settings.
  4. To be able to gain a higher score on the TOEIC test.

Evaluation method and criteria
The final score will be calculated as follows: 90 % of the class score (100 full points) + 10% of TOEIC-IP test score. Students need to score 60% or more in order to pass the course. For the calculation of the TOEIC test score, a score of 700 is regarded as full points (100 points). A score of 700 and above will be counted as 100 points.

Participation: 20%
Assignments / Short Tests: 20%
Mid-semester test: 30%
Final test: 30%

A score of 60% is needed to pass this course.
Students can expect to obtain more than 60 points if their performance on tests and assignments shows that they have mostly comprehended the learning contents of the course.
Short test will be given from Self-study assignments 1-10.
50% of the Mid-semester test is made from Self-study assignments 1-5 and 50% of the Final test is made from Self-study assignments 6-10.
