Course description
The aim of this course is to develop the students’ reading and writing skills. Students will develop their ability to read relatively complex texts both accurately and smoothly. By reading passages of a variety of content, they will enhance their ability to read both for gist and specific details without relying on translation into Japanese. They will also use the passages to improve their usage of grammar and build up their vocabulary. They will be expected to respond to what they have read with discussions and writing tasks.
Purpose of class
To further develop the students’ reading and writing skills.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to read texts of general content accurately and smoothly.
  2. To be able to understand and employ a range of grammar and vocabulary.
  3. To be able to summarize and discuss what they have read.
  4. To be able to gain a higher score on the TOEIC test.
