The purpose of this course is to learn the basic theory of Soil mechanics. The consolidation and shear strength are learned in this course.

The purpose of this course is to learn the basic theory of consolidation and shear strength.

  1. Students understand the soil properties and the theory of effective stress.
  2. Students understand the theory of consolidation
  3. Students understand the method for evaluating the settlement and duration of clay layers by using the theory of consolidation
  4. Students understand the theory for evaluating the shear strength of soil
