4 Graduation Thesis 1
Through one year of graduation research activities in the fourth grade, we will compile the basic and specialized subject
learning that we have learned in the past three years. In addition to the on-campus laboratories, research institutes of public
institutions are prepared as necessary for research activities, and each research theme is selected from a variety of research
contents. In order to meet the achievement goal, it is necessary to work at least 4 times a week and 14 weeks in a half year,
and the class time of Graduation Research 1 should be 150 hours or more. Depending on the research theme, part of the research
may be conducted overseas.
Through graduation research activities, the purpose is to work on research that no one is conducting and acquire problem-solving
abilities by making full use of the academic disciplines acquired by the third year of university.
- Paper: The text is written in an understandable manner with a clear argument. Figures and tables are easy to read and understand.
References are cited appropriately.
Presentation content: The slides have appropriate content and volume with clear expressions. Tables, figures, and image data
are used appropriately and contribute to the audience's understanding of research.
- Performance: The presenter gives a presentation with appropriate logic for engineering research. The presenter manages time,
uses appropriate expressions, and follows presentation etiquette .
Questions and Answers: The presenter understands the intent of a question and answers a question appropriately.
- to be able to think a research theme by yourself, act independently, and achieve the goals based on the research plan toward
the goals of the research you have set.
to be able to actively investigate in literatures and information related to research and utilize them in your own research.
- to be able to effectively apply the basic knowledge and analysis methods of mechanical engineering acquired in lectures to
your own research.
to be able to carry out continuous research and secure appropriate working time to achieve your goals.
- to be able to understand the roles of yourself and others in the laboratory, and act voluntarily to contribute to research
activities and research results.

Evaluation method and criteria
Students are evaluated by two or more referees (professors) in Graduation Thesis 1. The assessments are as follows:
- Paper: The text is written in an understandable manner with a clear argument. Figures and tables are easy to read and understand.
References are cited appropriately.
- Presentation content: The slides have appropriate content and volume with clear expressions. Tables, figures, and image
data are used appropriately and contribute to the audience's understanding of research.
- Performance: The presenter gives a presentation with appropriate logic for engineering research. The presenter manages time,
uses appropriate expressions, and follows presentation etiquette.
- Questions and Answers: The presenter understands the intent of a question and answers a question appropriately.
Each of these presentation items is evaluated on a scale of 12.5 points (50 points in total).
The evaluation criteria of the supervisor are the following evaluation items
- Toward the set research objectives, think for yourself, act independently, and achieve the goals based on the research plan.
- You can actively research literature and information related to research, examine them, and utilize them in your own research.
- You can effectively apply the basic knowledge and analysis methods of mechanical engineering acquired in lectures to your
own research.
- Continuous research can be conducted and appropriate working time can be secured to achieve the goal.
- Understand the roles of yourself and others in the laboratory / research group, and be able to voluntarily contribute to
research activities and research results.
A student is evaluated with a maximum of 10 points for each item (50 points in total).
The presentation points of 50 points and the supervisor's evaluation points of 50 points are totaled, and a maximum of 100
points, 60 points or more, is passed. The evaluation standard of 60 points is that each achievement goal can be acquired or
achieved at the minimum level.
Textbooks and reference materials
Related research papers and equipment manuals.
Students should read related research papers and equipment manuals.
Office hours and How to contact professors for questions
- The basic Friday period is 3 hours, but each supervisor will always respond as an office hour as long as there is time.
Non-regionally-oriented course
Development of social and professional independence
- Course that cultivates an ability for utilizing knowledge
- Course that cultivates a basic interpersonal skills
- Course that cultivates a basic self-management skills
- Course that cultivates a basic problem-solving skills
Most classes are interactive
