Large amount of polymer martials are widely used nowadays. The polymer is one of the indispensable materials for our life.
High performance and highly functionalized the polymer materials should be necessary for application in high technology industry.
Furthermore, environmental harmonization of the polymer materials should be required. Polymers show physical and chemical
features, which are not observed in low molecular weight materials, derived from their large molecular weight. The structure
and properties of the polymers are closely related to each other. It must be necessary to study both the contents overall
to handle the polymer materials.
In this lecture, we study about basics of polymer synthesis and features of various polymerization methods, which should be usable for development of new polymer materials. We also study primary structure, higher-order structure of molecular assembly, mechanical properties, and physical properties, which should be usable for design of polymer materials.
