Course description
This course is a PBL (project-based learning) designed to help students acquire approaches for proposing specific solutions that contribute to regional development through improving human mobility. Utilizing the knowledge and techniques learned in the “Introduction to transportations systems”, students are expected to identify concrete issues related to mobility, evaluate the significance of the issues, and propose solutions including policy measures or technical measures. Students will also practically acquire communication and presentation skills to obtain cooperation from stakeholders for project implementation.
Purpose of class
This class aims to practice the process of problem identifying and solving. Students are expected to develop specific policy measures or technical measures for improving mobility. Students will work in groups to explore the issues based on facts or data analysis, examine the related case examples, propose solutions, and communicate them to people in an easily understandable manner.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understand issues related to mobility and be able to identify real-world issues based on evidence
  2. Gain the ability to propose solutions based on the examination of existing practices
  3. Acquire information gathering/organizing skills, analytical skills, and presentation skills
