Course description
Measurements of biological structures and functions are important and necessary to understand biological phenomena and life activities. In addition, understanding the measurement principles and measuring objects is important to utilize the biomedical measurement technologies, where various sensors and equipment are used. This course deals with basic concepts and principles of biomedical measurements through lectures and some simple experiments. In the latter part of this course, students survey a biomedical measurement technology or medical equipment in small groups and give a presentation about it.
Purpose of class
Deepen the knowledge on biological characteristics and measurement principles to utilize the biomedical measurement technologies.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to explain the basic concepts of biological phenomena and measurements.
  2. Be able to explain the working principles of sensors and measurement equipment.
  3. Be able to lead a conclusion through basic analyses of measurement data
  4. Be able to survey the principles and applications of a biomedical measurements on their own initiative.
