Structural Design of Steel Structures

ASADA Hayato
Course description
The couse covers analysis and design of structural steel members and connections with emphasis on theories necessary for a thorough understanding of the design procedure. Design philosophies and types of steel structures are first introduced. The behavior and design of tension members, compression members, beams, beam-columns and design of connections according to allowable stress design(ASD) will be discussed.
Purpose of class
This course aims to understand basic behavior and failure modes for simple structural steel members and connections and be able to perform the basic design of tension, compression, and flexural members.
