Course content
(1) “Structural chemistry” is the science of the structure of chemical bonds.
The students will understand the characteristic features of the compounds

(2)“Structural chemistry” is an essential part of modern chemistry in theory and experiment to understand the chemical and physical properties and to design new compounds.
The students study the relationship between structure and properties, and how to control the property by control of its structure

(3) The most important experimental task in “structural chemistry” is structural determination.
This needs fine measurement by X-ray and neutron diffraction and learning structure analysis by various software
Purpose of class
The students in this class allow the following points,

(1) To obtain a crystallochemical point of view for inorganic materials.

(2) To know the structural variation of material under high pressure.

(3) To obtain an ability to predict a possible crystal structure under various conditions.
Goals and objectives
  1. The students will understand how to describe the crystal structure of your target material crystallographically.
  2. The students will understand how to explain structural phase transformation depending on the pressure.
  3. The students will understand the importance of a relationship between crystal structure and physical and chemical properties.
