Science of Concrete Material

IYODA Takeshi
Course content
This class will provide an overview of reinforcing steel and reinforced concrete, both of which are widely used as construction materials all over the world. The types of cement, the material of concrete, its hydration reaction, its mechanical properties with reinforcing steel, as well as deterioration as typified by durability will be outlined. In order to make it as easy to understand as possible, laboratory specimens and other materials will be viewed to enhance understanding.
In addition, the students will research and present the differences between their own country and Japan to grasp the differences and characteristics of each country as well.
Purpose of class
Understanding the concrete materials and chemical component including for cement hydration.
There are including fresh concrete, hardened concrete and construction.
