Transport Phenomena

TANAKA Kotaro
Course content
The aim of this course is to foster basic thinking regarding macroscopic equilibrium thermodynamics and basic transfort kinetics. The course deals with the basic principle of second law of thermodynamics, entropy production, rates of chemical reaction, free energy and thermal to electric conversion phenomena.
Purpose of class
The aim of this class is to help students acquire the knowledge needed to understand the basic cllasical thermodynamics, and advanced non-equilibrium thermodynamics. This course also deals with basic chemical reaction dynamics and transportation theory.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understand the fundamentals of thermodynamics to learn basic transfer kinetics
  2. Understand the basics of transfer kinetics
  3. Understand the basic matters including engineering applications such as chemical reaction rate
