1 Physical Metallurgy/ Exercise 1
The purpose of this course is to contribute to the development of materials by theoretically and experimentally investigating
the functions of materials (metals, ceramics, composites, and wood materials) from a physical point of view. In particular,
this course aims to deepen theoretical knowledge of material failure and to provide students with the knowledge to develop
and optimally select materials from the perspective of safety and functional design of industrial products.
- Ability to understand the purpose of research and to plan research
- Ability to organize research results and consider it from material science view point
- Presentation skill to present the research contents at academic conference
・Various functions of materials (metals, ceramics, composite materials, wood materials) are studied experimentally and theoretically
from a physical viewpoint.
・Computer simulations of the mechanical properties of materials are studied using a general-purpose FEM code.
・The theory of fracture mechanics is studied through experiments and computer simulations.
・Learn about reliability design of industrial products using computer simulation.
・Learn how to select the best materials for industrial products from the viewpoint of reliability design.
