1 Study on chemical biology Exercise1
The aim of this course is to have students acquire not only knowledge of chemical biology, but a broad range of scientific
philosophy to be a person who can contribute to the society as a Master of Engineering. Students will be given a research
project related to one of the following:
(1) Discovery of the molecules of which induces protein folding correctly.
(2) Discovery of the molecules of which act as a scaffold for hetero protein assembly .
In achieving the goal of the project, students will develop their own skills for“how to find a problem “how to construct
a problem to be able to be solved,” and “how to solve it”
- Planning for the experiment that evaluate the hypothesis。
- Experimental skills in chemistry and biology.
- Descrive the fact of which obarained by the experiment and data analysis.
Discuss and determine your ouwn project.
Schediling and strategy for accomplish the project.
Presentation for the tettative conclusion of which estimated with the experimental results.
Final presentation of the conclusion of the project.
Evaluation method and criteria
The credit of this course will be evaluated based on the following three criteria: (1) Scientific facts are described in the
master thesis; (2) Experimental evidence which will verify these facts and discussion; (3) The project purpose has been achieved.
(If the project purpose cannot be achieved, it is necessary to provide scientific reason for.) Not only the master’s thesis,
but experiment notes, data showing experimental results, weekly reports, weekly plans etc., and everything which should be
submitted will be subject to evaluation. As well, discussions with the principal investigator, presentations at lab. meetings
etc., responses to questions asked after the presentation of master’s thesis (oral presentation) will be comprehensively concerned.
