Course description
In designing, we eventually design something. On the other hands, Design is not limited only physical objects, but includes both tangible and intangible, such as interface, information, system, and so on. At we consider "what design should be?," we should consider various factors as biology, psychology, engineering, and society, and we select right alternative from the viewpoint of comprehensive perspective. In order to do that, there are many theories we should know in advance. In this class, we will learn about basic theories that should be understood in designing, and also we discuss from based on examples.
Purpose of class
We aim at understand the form that is a important factor of design as logically, as emotionally, and acquire basic theories to design forms.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can guess reasons why they designed this form from the various view point when they watched objects.
  2. Students are able to design forms in consideration of psychological aspect that should be considered.
  3. Students understand basic techniques to compose and design forms.
  4. Students understand basic techniques to develop ideas.

Evaluation method and criteria
We make judgments of S, A and B for each report (S: having adequate and logical description and also having own consideration / A: Less than S but described appropriate content / B: the content is not appropriate), and give 10 points for S, 5 points for A and 0 points for B.
For reports, we calculate the final score based on the following calculation formula, and this score is added to the final exam (maximum score is 50 points) and it is the final score for evaluation.
【Report score calculation formula】
Final score of reports = (report total point / number of reports) × 5

* We change evaluation method and criteria depend on class situation. We announce it in class if change those.
